Systems Engineer

Position Purpose

The Systems Engineer will play a critical role in supporting the growth and technological advancement of Brailsford & Dunlavey (B&D) and CENTERS by ensuring the organization's IT infrastructure's stability, scalability, and security. Reporting to the IT Operations Manager, the Systems Engineer will oversee the deployment and maintenance of cutting-edge technology solutions and facilitate the integration of emerging technologies to support the strategic goals of both organizations.

Position Responsibilities

Infrastructure Management

• Manage, monitor, and maintain all installed systems and infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.
• Oversee the administration of hybrid Windows/Linux environments, including Windows Server, Active Directory, and Linux systems.
• Manage cloud infrastructure, including Microsoft Azure, Office 365, and virtualization platforms like VMware or Hyper-V.
• Design, implement, and support WAN/LAN networks, VPN solutions, and wireless infrastructure.
• Conduct performance tuning, system upgrades, and troubleshooting of hardware and software issues.
• Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent operations and compliance.

Project Management and Collaboration

• Lead infrastructure projects that align with organizational goals, including system migrations and new technology rollouts.
• Work with cross-functional teams to assess and implement new technologies, ensuring compatibility and usability.
• Contribute to developing and managing IT budgets, aligning expenditures with strategic priorities.

Support and Leadership

• Provide Tier 3 support for escalated technical issues.
• Mentor and train IT support staff, establishing clear goals and performance metrics.
• Supervise and prioritize workloads for IT support employees, fostering a high-performance team culture.
• Ensure continuous improvement in IT support services through regular evaluation and feedback.

Security and Compliance

• Manage system security and implement best practices for data protection, system hardening, and threat detection.
• Perform routine audits of systems and software to ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulations.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure documentation, including disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

Position Requirements

• An associate’s degree in information systems or a related field; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure management, with expertise in hybrid environments and cloud solutions.
• Proven experience with Microsoft products (Windows Server, Azure, Office 365) and Linux systems.
• Knowledge of virtualization platforms and cloud-native technologies.
• Proficiency in hybrid Windows/Linux environments and cloud technologies.
• Familiarity with Rec Auto (or similar tools), MS Entra, MS Intune, Zoom, Document Management Systems, MFA systems, HRIS systems.
• Expertise in virtualization, network management, and cybersecurity.
• Strong analytical skills for system design and troubleshooting.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving with a growth-oriented mindset.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to lead and inspire IT support teams in a fast-paced environment.

The target base annual salary range for this role is currently $75,000-85,000. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate, and pay relative to other team members.
