Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate coding and timely submission of claims. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the ability to navigate medical records efficiently. The Medical Biller will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of our practice by ensuring that all services rendered are billed correctly and collected promptly.
Duties
- Review patient records to ensure all necessary documentation is complete for billing purposes.
- Accurately code diagnoses and procedures using current ICD codes and other relevant coding resources.
- Timely and accurately file claims.
- Follow up on outstanding claims , rejects, and/or denials.
- Manage accounts receivable by tracking payments, issuing statements, and performing medical collections as needed.
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in patient records or billing information.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding practices, and insurance policies.
Requirements
- Must comply with HIPAA to protect patients' health information
- Proven experience in medical billing.
- Strong knowledge of current ICD codes and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with medical office procedures and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems - Allscripts/Veradigm a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and writing skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and insurance representatives.
- Proficient in using billing software and other relevant technology tools.
- Certification in medical billing or coding is a plus but not required.
