The Brain Injury Association of Virginia is the only statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to serving individuals with brain injury, their families, and caregivers in Virginia. BIAV Camp Bruce McCoy is our nationally-recognized, over 40-year-old residential summer camp and respite program for adult survivors of brain injury (18 ) and their family members and caregivers. While family members and caregivers enjoy some much-deserved time focusing on time for themselves, campers enjoy recreational programming customized to their needs and interests in the company of their peers and professionally trained staff and volunteers.
Role Description
This one-week, May 18-24, full-time, over night Summer Camp Counselor role at BIAV Camp Bruce McCoy involves day-to-day tasks focused on organizing and leading camp activities for individuals with brain injuries. Counselors assist campers with safety, meal time, self-care, mobility, and having a great time! The role is based in Chesapeake, VA and requires on-site presence.
Qualifications
- Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities
- Lifeguarding certification (desired but not mandatory)
- Experience in working with individuals with brain injuries (desired but mandatory)
- Ability to work in a team
- 18 years and up
