Overall Position Summary
The Estimating Engineer is responsible for analyzing prospective part RFQ’s including blueprints, specifications, and proposals. Based upon collaboration with cross-functional partners, the estimating engineer develops detailed cost estimates and customer quotes.
Responsibilities & Authority
Duties
- Evaluate feasibility, develop manufacturing requirements, and estimate material, labor, and overhead costs for prospective parts.
- Provide accurate and competitive quotes to customers on a timely basis.
- Manage RFQ execution to optimize capture rates and ensure fair prices and achieve margin targets.
- Communicate with sales representatives and customers to understand customer requirements and meet or exceed expectations.
- Review new production results in comparison to quotes and initiate follow-up actions as required.
- Utilize company and customer RFQ systems and tools to deliver quotes and supporting data.
- Assist in business development efforts through recommending new production capabilities, working with customers on new part opportunities, and knowledge of competitive environment.
