What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Traffic Supervisor position at Braintree Public School District?
Braintree Public Schools has openings for Spare School Traffic Supervisors. Spare School Traffic Supervisors (Crossing Guards) are part-time employees of Braintree Public Schools. Their primary responsibility is to protect school children crossing streets while walking to and from schools within the town and ensure the safe crossing of school children at designated crosswalks. School Traffic Supervisors have no enforcement, arrest powers or authority to issue motor vehicle citations. School Traffic Supervisors are assigned to control pedestrian and vehicular traffic at fixed posts determined by the School Department. All Spare School Traffic Supervisors must be available to be on call during the school year when a permanent School Traffic Supervisor is unable to report to work for their assigned post. Uniform and training provided.
When a Permanent School Traffic Supervisor position opens, it will be filled by the senior Spare School Traffic Supervisor as long as she/he has fulfilled her/his obligation as a Spare School Traffic Supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
Each applicant must pass a Board of Probation Check
Physical exam with drug testing
High School Graduate
Massachusetts Driver’s License
Pass CORI check
Good character, good temperament, courteous, neat in appearance and possess the ability to deal with children.
