What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bulletin 2394 Braintree High School Specialized Programs Coordinator position at Braintree Public Schools?
Braintree High School seeks a full-time coordinator of the specialized programs including Achieve, Alliance, Language Enrichment Career Exploration, Prove, Wave, Strives, Compass, PMI, and Tutoring. The BHS Specialized Programs Coordinator supervises these programs on a day-to-day basis.
Candidates must be DESE certified in Moderate Special Needs Disabilities 5-12. Preferred candidates have experience in a teaching role with students with disabilities and knowledge of how to support students with different disability profiles. They also have demonstrated skill at chairing IEP team meetings and proven ability to communicate and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders (parents, students, staff, building administration, districtwide administrators).
The responsibilities of the BHS Specialized Program Coordinator include:
- Meeting with program staff and the Assistant Director of Special Services weekly to assist in program management, development, and problem-solving
- Assisting in accurate and appropriate scheduling of students in programs
- Assisting in tracking of students’ progress toward graduation (i.e. resolving issues of students’ lacking credit toward graduation and requiring placement in PMI)
- Assisting in the screening and placement of high profile transfer or move-in cases
- Representing the programs in student discipline cases with the 3 Assistant Principals at BHS
- Assisting in the partnership with Massasoit Community College related to development of classes at their Canton Campus for LECE, Achieve/Alliance, and Launch students
- Assisting in the partnership with Bridgewater State University with the identification and placement of teachers-in-training in paraeducator positions and long-term substitute positions in the specialized program at BHS
- Assisting with the Tutoring Program, which serves students with high anxiety, medical conditions, and disciplinary issues at 5 sites staff by approximately 12 hourly tutors
- Providing on-going mentoring and guidance to the teacher, related services providers, and paraeducators in all programs
