Job Description
******CHEP Services is hiring for General Labor/Pallet Sorter 3rd Shift******
Get out ahead of the rest of the pack on your job search. We are looking for hardworking employees willing to learn, and who possess a good attendance history. We have a 3rd shift position available in our Ashley, IN location (inside the Family Dollar Distribution Center). Position starts out at $18.66 per hour a $2.00 an hour attendance incentive. Our 3rd shift runs Sunday-Thursday nights, 9pm-5am.
Requirements of the position:
- Standing, bending, lifting for a little over ½ of the shift
- Able to lift, or assist in lifting 25-75 pounds repeatedly
- Performing the job in a safe manner within the company’s process
- Following training and direction from shift leads, site manager
- Reporting any unsafe conditions.
- Helping improve operations by mentioning possible improvements
- Performing general housekeeping throughout the shift
- Wearing all required PPE all the time
What we are looking for:
- Strong attendance
- Willingness to perform duties of the position
- Drive to grow within the company
- Able to work as a team member with other employees
- Forklift experience is a plus. Training on forklift and EPJ will begin once you are trained and certified on sorting operations
Requirements:
- Physically able to perform the daily duties mentioned above
- Previous experience on a sit-down, L.P. forklift (desired but not required)
- Attention to detail
- Able to adjust to a changing work schedule (notice given when changes are needed)
- Desire to excel and move up within the company when opportunities come available

We are seeking a Pallet Sorter to join our Ashley, IN team, working inside the Family Dollar Distribution Center. If you have warehouse experience, a strong work ethic and a desire to learn, a Pallet Sorter position with CHEP could be a great fit!

Position Purpose:
The Sorter position is responsible for sorting pallets by hand for grading as they flow from the loading dock, production line and throughout the facility. This position involves tandem sorting that requires high collaboration with other team members. May leverage hand tools to remove nails or debris from pallets.
Major/Key Accountabilities:
Pallet Sorting
- Sort pallets as they are moved from loading docks to sort line/area.
- Removes debris and trash from pallets.
- Determines which pallets require repairs.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment daily.
- Report any safety hazards or concerns to supervisors immediately.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience working in an industrial, fast paced environment with industrial equipment.
- Ability to complete task within a timely manner with high attention to detail.
- Ability to understand and communicate information is essential.
- Ability to work independently in a team environment is essential.

Physical Requirements:

- Work requires standing for long periods of time.
- Exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures may occur.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
