POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sports Manager will be responsible for assisting with the sales and execution of sports classes and programming. The Sports Manager will work closely with the General Manager, and other Sports Mangers on all tasks to help run all sports programming including child development classes, basketball leagues and tournaments, flag football leagues and field/court rentals. On field lead coaching will be a part of this job.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Oversee part time staff during nights and weekends when programs are taking place
- Coach/Run/ and Grow BSC youth Programming
- Serve as Manager-On-Duty ("MOD") during evenings/weekends ensuring smooth operation of sports programming, tournaments, and rentals
- Answer phones, process registrations and serve as the point of contact for sports programming inquires
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential
- Participation in planning/strategic meetings regarding all sports programming
- Various other duties as required by the General Manager
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor's degree in recreation, sports management, communications or related field
- 1-2 years appropriate experience required
- Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and negotiating skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
- Must be able to work flexible schedules including mostly weekends, nights, and holidays
- Experience hosting/running sporting events and existing contacts within the industry a plus
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds waist high
- Will be required to stand or sit for extended periods of time
- Will be required to conduct venue tours to prospective clients
- Office environment has intermittent noise, normal in nature
