Brandon Academy (BA) is seeking a full-time Lower School STEAM Teacher for the 2025 - 2026 school year. Located in Brandon, Florida, BA is a small, coeducational college preparatory school for students in JK - 12th grade. A learning community of about 260 students and 25 faculty and staff members, BA is guided by the mission of discovering and developing individual potential. Job Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate engaging, hands-on, and inquiry-based lessons in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) for Lower School students.
- Develop and implement cross-disciplinary projects that foster creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration.
- Integrate technology and engineering principles into daily instruction to enhance student learning.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to support diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Assess student learning on an ongoing basis and use this information to inform instruction.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate STEAM concepts into core subjects.
- Foster a classroom environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, making mistakes, and being curious.
- Practice thoughtful, respectful, and effective classroom management techniques that support active learning and promote responsibility, self-management, and positive relationships.
- Maintain frequent contact with families, including newsletters, emails, meetings, and informal conversations.
- Write progress reports and participate in parent/teacher conferences.
- Attend all faculty and divisional meetings.
- Supervise students during recess and other non-class times as assigned.
- Develop, plan, and supervise field trips related to STEAM learning.
Qualifications & Skills
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, or Mathematics; Master’s degree preferred.
- Teaching experience with a proven track record of excellence in classroom instruction and management.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of child development and best practices in STEAM education.
- Experience with project-based learning and hands-on inquiry instruction.
- Outstanding interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- A proven ability to use and integrate technology effectively into the classroom setting to enhance and enrich student learning experiences.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Creative and visionary with a growth mindset and willingness to innovate and collaborate with others.
- Empathetic, supportive, a good sense of humor, and a positive disposition.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
- Three or more years of teaching experience is strongly preferred. However, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience may be considered in place of the above requirements.
