MATCOR, Inc., A BrandSafway Company, is one of the nation’s leading firms for cathodic protection field services. MATCOR has open positions for Close Interval Survey (CIS) field personnel. The CIS team will report to the Technical Supervisor within the Engineering Group.
Preference will be given to candidates that can report to a local MATCOR office (Chalfont PA, Houston TX, Gonzales LA, Guthrie OK, Midland TX, Pittsburgh PA, or Casper WY). Consideration will be given to candidates living in other areas but willing to fly into a worksite for an extended period.
Responsibilities:
CIS Crew Leader
Lead a crew of two to four technicians to successfully execute close interval potential surveys, DC voltage gradient, AC voltage gradient, AC attenuation, soil resistivity, depth of cover, leak detection, AC voltage surveys, test point surveys, isolation surveys, and other indirect pipeline integrity tests.
Perform daily data upload and reporting requirements.
Coordinate with client representatives and MATCOR project managers to provide safe, complete, and on-time delivery of survey work.
Typical travel requirement is 75% average through the year with periods of weeks off at the beginning of the year and extended travel during the spring and fall (busiest survey months).
CIS Locator
Locate and mark pipeline.
Perform survey techniques under direct supervision of the Crew Leader.
Carry water packs (up to 50 pounds) for watering the pipeline right-of-way in front of the Crew Leader.
Test cathodic protection rectifiers and install/remove current interrupters.
Install/remove data loggers.
Operate off road vehicles (UTVs).
CIS Support
Collect CIS survey wire from the right-of-way.
Test cathodic protection rectifiers and install/remove current interrupters.
Install/remove data loggers.
Operate off road vehicles (UTVs).
Transport crew leader and locator along the right-of-way.
Minimum Requirements:
CIS crew leaders and locators must have prior experience with cathodic protection and/or pipeline survey. Candidates without experience will be considered for a support role with on-the-job training for crew leader and locator positions. On-the-job training will be provided for each required survey and testing technique.
All crew members must be safety minded and must work well in a team environment. Candidates must have professional references willing to attest to the candidate’s uncompromising safety attitude, professionalism, and team mindedness.
All crew members must be able to work long hours and must be physically capable of walking up to 10 miles in one day with survey equipment and water packs. Typical workload is 8 to 12 hours per day, 6 days per week. Crews will typically walk 30 to 50 miles per week.
All crew members must be able to lift 70 pounds.
All crew members must have a valid driver’s license and must be willing and able to drive long distances in a company vehicle (typically a ½-ton or ¾-ton pickup truck).
AMPP Certification is preferred, but not required. Crew leaders who desire AMPP Certification will be considered for certification training and sponsorship, paid for in full by MATCOR.
Term and Compensation:
These positions are permanent and fulltime. Pay is hourly and commensurate with position, experience, certification, and performance. Personnel are eligible for holiday, vacation, benefits, and 401K savings per BrandSafway policy.
Travel:
This is a travel position with average of 75% throughout the year. Travel expenses will be paid by MATCOR.
