Job Summary
The Insulation Superintendent is responsible for the safe, productive execution of insulation projects at the P66 Wood River Refinery. The Insulation Superintendent owns insulation projects for BrandSafway and ensures that all employees who enter the site are safe and productive while working or visiting. The Insulation Superintendent is responsible for hiring, firing, and reductions in force due to disciplinary or project schedule needs. Lastly, the Insulation Superintendent is responsible for adhering to the project schedule, controlling material inventory, maintaining tools and equipment, and monitoring the costs of the project to maximize project safety, productivity, revenue, and profitability.
Essential Functions
- Review and analyze project controls to include productivity tracking, average manhour rate report, and material tracking reports to ensure projects are delivered on time and below budget.
- Develop and update schedules and manpower loading forecasts.
- Ensure process to obtain authorization for extra work (Change Orders) is followed per the site contract.
- Submit requisitions for equipment, material, PPE, and tools in a manner that allows for the efficient purchase and shipping of needed items.
- Manage budgets for all cost categories.
- Responsible to ensure daily reports, timesheets, and other documents are submitted timely to the customer.
- Provide leadership and assist in the supervision and direction of jobsite work crews to fulfill customer requirements and maintain job profitability.
- Discuss job requirements with jobsite management and other personnel to ensure satisfaction of customer requirements and the safe utilization of company assets.
- Develop pre-job plan to assure the proper BrandSafway equipment is available per job requirements, which could require the development of layout design, estimating, bidding, and change orders.
- Ensuring personal and team compliance with safety policies

Secondary Functions
- Performing Equipment inspections
- Assisting in the development of annual budgets for industrial maintenance, project estimations, and costs/profitability of targets
- Developing contract stewardship plans
- Analyzing market trends, opportunities, and threats to assist in developing strategic business plans to achieve area goals
- Providing support for business development
- Monitoring project budgets, construction costs, and other financials
- Data management and analysis
- Perform general housekeeping on a jobsite, as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises craft.
- Carries out supervisory duties in accordance with company policies and applicable employment laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience requires High School Diploma, but preference is a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Requires ability to process complex time sensitive data and information from multiple sources, make decisions based on this data, and to effectively communicate the related required actions to a broad audience
- Requires proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, interpreting specifications and drawings, reading and editing scheduling software (such as P6), and contract management.
- Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a motor vehicle in a safe manner while carefully observing all traffic regulations.
- Requires the knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired by 10 years of primarily insulation experience in the commercial and industrial segments.
- Requires excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with customers, company employees, and customer employees at job site.
- Requires the ability to review and process important customer information (blueprints, plans, specifications, etc.) and prepare timely, accurate and competitive bids.

In the office, the work environment is usually quiet with a moderate temperature.
The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places, is exposed to fumes, airborne particles, dust, non-weather heat, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is also occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions and may work in varying degrees of confined space. The noise level is usually moderate but may be loud at certain times while visiting construction job sites.
