What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Brashear Family Medical?
Brashear Family Medical strives to provide patient care that sets us apart from the rest. We are currently seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our team and support our Family Practice.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Room patients, accurately obtain vitals, verify medical history and current medication list, and validate preventatives are up to date.
Assist providers in exams, procedures and in-office testing, as well as administer injections and vaccinations.
Handle medication refill requests, patient messages and assigned tasks by provider.
Contact patients for their Chronic Care Management questionnaires.
Submit medication prior authorizations as needed.
Keep lab and exam rooms clean and well stocked.
Comply with OSHA requirements including universal precautions, hazardous waste and sharps disposal
guidelines.
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA protected health information guidelines.
Adhere to the companies Personnel Policies and Procedures.
Must use clear communication skills and encourage positive working relationships with staff, providers and patients.
Requirements
One year of recent experience as a Medical Assistant in a physician's office.
Experience in written and oral communication skills/documentation and navigating EMR software. (eClinicalWorks is even better!)
Experience with taking vitals, administering injections, drawing labs and performing in-office tests.
Position requires flexible working hours, our office hours are 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Thursday. We close at 5:00 PM on Friday's and 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Saturday's. Our Medical Support Staff alternates their schedules for Saturday clinic coverage and flex times according to the needs of the practice.

This is an hourly position and bi-weekly paydays. Compensation will be dependent upon experience.
