POSITION SUMMARY:
The Materials Supervisor plans the movement of materials through various manufacturing processes, including receiving, material handling, and shipping, to the point of use in accordance with master planning schedules. This position is highly visible to company leadership and supervises hourly employees.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Makes safety the number one priority by leading by example, addressing unsafe conditions & behaviors, and supporting safety improvement initiatives
Supports continuous improvement by participating in events and submitting opportunities for improvements
Coordinates the materials department operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets
Works with Operations teams to make production schedules; proactively monitors production using MRP/ERP systems to ensure customer demands are met
Places purchase orders for direct and indirect materials needed for production
Ensures trucking companies, brokers, and customers are aware of and fulfilling BrassCraft needs
Presents daily reports to the Plant Leadership Team, including OTIF, CCI, Inventory, and other KPIs
Optimizes business resources by participating in SIOP
Maintains safety compliance requirements for DOT and material handling/forklifts
Manages daily routes/schedules of shipments and deliveries
Performs data entry for production reports, miscellaneous adjustments, and scrap reporting
Sets and manages schedule priorities with operations and shipping personnel
Coordinates with accounts payable to ensure all invoices matched what was received
Promotes a working environment that boosts employee morale, removing barriers to success and ensuring training needs are met
Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
3 years experience in materials control
Understanding of material and inventory control procedures
Ability to utilize ERP/MRP to create reports and analyze data
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
Strong problem-solving skills required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
3 years of supervisory experience in materials control management
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or a related field
