Job Description:
Brattleboro Area Middle School (BAMS) is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to serve as a Middle School Social Studies Teacher. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in middle school social studies content, with a focus on geography, world cultures, and U.S. History.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that incorporate inclusionary practices, personalized learning plans, and proficiency-based learning strategies.
Utilize a student-centered approach and demonstrate fluency in proficiency-based instruction and assessment methods.
Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to create interdisciplinary units and support students' holistic development.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners in an inclusionary setting, including those with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 plans.
Foster positive relationships with students, staff, administrators, and the broader community.
Serve as an advisor to a core group of students, providing both academic and social-emotional support.
Implement classroom management strategies aligned with the school's values and developmental designs principles.
Participate in regular team meetings, professional development opportunities, and school committees to support ongoing improvement and alignment with school and district initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education or related field; Master's degree preferred.
Certification in Social Studies and Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) status.
Strong knowledge of middle school social studies content, Common Core Literacy Standards, and proficiency-based learning practices.
Experience working with middle school students in an inclusive classroom environment.
