Overview:- Coordinates Brattleboro Food Co-op digital communications (such as social media and email marketing), ensuring content is engaging, appealing, and accurate.
- Writes articles (such as Producer of the Month features) that educate and promote cooperative values, food justice issues, and local food systems in collaboration with the Manager of Marketing & Community Relations.
- Conveys the cooperative principles and values while promoting sales, events, and shareholder benefits through BFC’s marketing platforms.
- Represents the Co-op as an ambassador at assigned community events, fostering relationships and educating the public about cooperatives.
- Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills, including public speaking, and is comfortable connecting with a wide variety of people.
- Prioritizes department-wide tasks and ensures timely completion using project management tools.
- Works scheduled hours while maintaining a helpful, willing, and team-oriented attitude.
- Collaborates with other departments to create and deliver effective, supportive content.
- Maintains and builds healthy work relationships with clear, honest, and kind communication.
- Open to learning, listening, and incorporating feedback.
- Takes responsibility for actions and exemplifies honesty, integrity, and ethics.

Job Specific Functions
Content Creation & Marketing:
- Creates and manages engaging content across communication platforms, utilizing photographs, videos, and writing to support BFC’s initiatives, principles, and sales.
- Publicizes BFC events, such as classes, demos, and community initiatives.
- Promotes sales, deals, and store flyers with accuracy and enthusiasm.
- Collaborates with the Graphics team on e-newsletter creation.
- Assists in designing, proofreading, and organizing materials as needed.
Community Relations & Outreach:
- Supports special events and initiatives as directed by the Marketing & Community Relations Manager.
- Assists with customer service when necessary.
- Represents the Co-op at community events and fosters positive engagement.
- Educates the public about the cooperative business model and BFC’s shareholder benefits.
- Builds relationships with local businesses, food producers, and community partners.
Technology & Digital Communication:
- Manages and updates social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging platforms, ensuring relevance and engagement.
- Uses digital tools for content creation, such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat (a plus).
- Stays up to date on new platforms, technology, tools, and trends.
- Utilizes project management tools to prioritize and track work.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience with public speaking.- Content Creation: Ability to create appealing photographs and videos for social media.
- Marketing & Publicity: Experience with marketing and publicity
- Technology Proficiency: Strong computer skills, including experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and familiarity with Adobe Acrobat.
- Social Media Management: Proficiency in managing Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
- Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to handle multiple demands.
- Community Engagement: Ease in connecting with diverse groups of people and fostering community relationships.
