The Multi-Layered System of Supports (MLSS) School Improvement Coach is a detail-oriented, collaborative individual who helps achieve the mission of Brattleboro Union High School (BUHS) and Brattleboro Area Middle School (BAMS). They support the collection and analysis of data that drives instruction and school operations, and work with teams of teachers to improve systems and structures around data use to improve student learning. This individual will work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, instructional coaches, and staff to organize and implement school assessments, manage academic and behavioral performance data, facilitate protocols with teams, and monitor graduation trends in order to identify needs, and inform critical decision-making that supports academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth for all students.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessment
In conjunction with the principals and office of Curriculum & Assessment, develop and execute an annual assessment calendar (including VTCAP, PSAT, AP, district level benchmark assessments, progress monitoring, climate surveys) in alignment with the framework outlined in the Local Common Assessment Plan.
Serve as the official assessment coordinator for BUHS and BAMS, by being the primary point-person for external organizations and vendors in relation to assessment administration, rostering, and tech support needs.
Coordinate communication about assessment logistics and results to staff and families.
Oversee student test administration and coordination of school-wide assessments, including organizing assessment materials, rostering, scheduling, setting up student accommodations, and coordinating makeups.
Provide training to staff on procedures and protocols related to assessment administration and software.
Data Management, Analysis and Reporting
Use district dashboards to store and analyze student data and support progress monitoring in alignment with the Local Common Assessment Plan.
Guide the work of MLSS data teams and monitor progress toward district wide goals
Meet with teachers regularly to identify students, both individuals and groups, who may require support and intervention.
Work with Instructional Coach to identify trends for additional layers of support, and potential beneficial coaching cycles to support teachers and students.
Use data (academic, attendance, and behavioral) to analyze, evaluate, and compare the effectiveness of strategies to support students and drive continuous improvement.
Support teachers and staff in understanding how to interpret and use various types of data to adjust instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
Collaborate with the Student Support Team and EST to gather pertinent data as needed, help create targeted goals, and collaborate on measurement of progress.
QUALIFICATIONS
Hold a valid VT Teaching License
B.A./B.S. required, M.A. preferred; candidates with relevant experience in data analytics and classroom teaching experience are encouraged to apply.

Experience with assessment, MLSS operations, and/or data analysis and reporting within a public K12 school setting preferred.
Knowledge of and experience with standardized test administration.
