The History Department of Edwards-Pitman Environmental, Inc. (EPEI) is soliciting applications for the position of Architectural Historian in our Atlanta (Smyrna), Georgia, office. Candidates will have a graduate degree in History, Architectural History, or Historic Preservation and meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Architectural Historian. For this position, we seek a highly motivated individual to pursue quality historical and architectural research in a cultural resource management context.
Responsibilities will include undertaking research on a variety of historic resource types; conducting field surveys to identify historic resources; evaluating resources for National Register eligibility; and preparing reports on historic resources pursuant to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and subsequent amendments.

- Understanding of how to apply the National Register evaluation criteria to historic resources
- Experience photographing historic resources
- Exceptional research, writing, and editing skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to work on simultaneous tasks while meeting project deadlines and adhering to project budgets
- Ability to work independently to complete tasks
- Willingness to work in a collaborative office environment
- Ability to communicate directly with a variety of clients in the public and private sector
- Ability to travel overnight, as needed, for fieldwork
