Job Title : Safety Manager - Utility (Traveling)

Location : Multiple Project Sites (Travel Required)

Position Overview :

We are seeking a Safety Manager - Utility to oversee and enforce safety programs across multiple utility projects. This position is crucial in ensuring compliance with OSHA, federal, and state safety regulations while promoting an incident and injury-free (IIF) work environment. The Safety Manager will serve as a hands-on leader, working closely with operations teams, subcontractors, and field personnel to develop and maintain a strong safety culture. This is a traveling role, requiring frequent site visits to multiple project locations.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead and enforce safety programs across multiple utility construction projects.
  • Act as a safety mentor for management and field employees, ensuring safety is a top priority in all operations.
  • Conduct site safety audits to assess and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Develop and implement safety training programs, including toolbox talks and OSHA compliance training.
  • Investigate and analyze incidents, conduct Root Cause Analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Review and approve subcontractor safety plans, ensuring compliance with company and project safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with Project Teams to integrate safety planning into project execution strategies.
  • Maintain and track safety documentation, compliance reports, and training records.
  • Support new project startups by implementing safety systems and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with utility construction safety regulations and industry best practices.

Qualifications & Requirements :

  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in construction safety management, with a preference for utility or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working on large-scale, high-risk projects (electrical transmission, substations, pipelines, etc.).
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST).
  • OSHA 10, OSHA 30, OSHA 500 certifications.
  • First Aid & CPR training.
  • Strong leadership and ability to influence safety culture across diverse teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite and digital safety reporting tools.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to project sites.
