Position Summary
Perform electrical construction and maintenance on University secondary electrical systems, lighting systems, control circuits, ETS phones, and transformers. Responsibilities include responding to service calls, troubleshooting, repairs, and performing preventive maintenance on systems such as generators, PLCs, boulevard lights, beacons/windsocks, and H/C doors. Modify and renovate existing electrical systems, interpret blueprints, collaborate with the engineering department, and serve as interim crew chief when needed. This role requires overtime, carrying a pager, and being available for 24-hour callbacks.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Electrical Construction & Maintenance (50%): Perform construction and maintenance on raceways, panel boards, secondary switchgear, feeder circuits, distribution systems, transformers, generators, and lighting systems. Work from schematics and blueprints provided by the University Engineering department.
- Materials & Equipment (20%): Identify and procure materials and equipment needed for projects. Provide task estimates and order replacement parts.
- Collaborate with Teams (20%): Assist other crafts, project teams, zones, and external vendors as required.
- Training (5%): Provide classroom and on-the-job training for SK1.1, SK1.2, and SK2 personnel.

Qualifications and Skills
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical construction, maintenance, repair, or troubleshooting.
- Commitment to continuing education in the electrical field.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in mathematical calculations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in adverse conditions (e.g., electrical hazards, extreme temperatures, confined spaces, and heights).
- Capability to lift and carry 50-80 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
- Experience with secondary electrical systems, lighting systems, conduit, and transformers.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
Preferred Skills:
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with word processors, spreadsheets, and SAP.
- Experience with control circuits, generators, and PLCs.
Physical Requirements
Heavy Physical Activity: Must be able to lift and carry 50-80 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. or more occasionally.
