What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergency 911 Dispatcher position at Braxton County E-911?
Answer all incoming 911 calls, collect all pertinent information from the caller using excellent verbal communication skills, enter all information into a computer-aided system, route the calls to appropriate service agencies, and have a working knowledge of the surrounding area's geography, be able to perform in a fast-paced environment, possess a high standard of ethical conduct.
Minimum requirements for 911 dispatchers include possessing a high school diploma or GED. Although there are no further formal educational requirements, 911 dispatchers must possess proficiency in reading comprehension, typing, spelling, and multi-tasking, be able to accurately listen and record information, plus be able to pass a drug test, and a background investigation. There is a probationary period. Previous work experience as a dispatcher a plus.
You must be able to take and complete training in APCO Telecommunicate, WEAPONS, CPR and EMD to be a fully certified dispatcher. Be able to handle a lot of stress, be professional at all times, and provide outstanding customer service.
Available to work 12-hour shifts, this is a part-time position time with the possibility of full-time in the future with full benefits.
