Regional Business Development Director – Architecture and Interior Design
Bray Associates Architects, Inc. is seeking a Regional Business Development Director to join our growing team. The Regional Business Development Director will create, implement, and refine strategies that will drive Bray’s visibility, new business, and shape the firm’s reputation in new and existing markets and geographies.
We are seeking a results-driven individual who is able to explore new markets, align with potential customers, and solidify relationships. The candidate must be experienced in business development/relationship-building, a team player, a self-starter, an excellent communicator, strategic thinker/planner, and a problem solver. Ideally, the Director will have a background within the architectural/engineering/construction industry. We are seeking a candidate in the Des Moines, Iowa area with the ability and willingness to travel throughout central and western Iowa as well as southern Minnesota.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, execute, and lead activities to infiltrate new markets and geographies, drive new business efforts, and win new work.
- Work closely with firm leadership in creating and executing a strategic business plan to position the firm with target clients.
- Develop strategic short and long-term business plans to support key initiatives.
- Coordinate communication with the leadership team when required to follow up with prospective clients.
- Meet and/or speak with qualified prospects to introduce Bray Architects and learn more about their projects.
- Identify and develop opportunities to establish Bray’s presence in the market, including speaking engagements, conferences, etc.
- Monitor, track and report business development activities.
- Research clients, market trends, and background information associated with business development efforts.
- Manage, update, and maintain prospect contact status.
- Collaborate with the leadership team, director of marketing and communication, and other marketing team members to prepare and distribute materials to increase brand recognition.
- Tasks may also include coordinating: events, public relations efforts, advertisements, materials for trade shows, content for speaking engagements, direct mail campaigns and award submittals.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in a marketing/business development position preferably in architectural/engineering/construction industry
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or related field.
- Existing network of industry contacts and relationships.
- A strategic thinker, with a drive for quality and sales results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge in developing marketing strategies for local and regional markets.
- A strong work ethic and self-starter attitude, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to self-manage project assignments from start to finish with minimal oversight and direction.
- Strong project management skills.
- Passionate about strategy, business development and client service.
- Proficient in MS Office and other standard office technology.
- Possesses creative problem-solving skills.
