Senior Construction Estimator
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Construction Estimator to manage our company's estimating process.
This role requires a thorough understanding of cost estimation and estimating procedures, as well as the ability to lead and direct a team of estimators and junior estimators.
The ideal candidate will have 10 years of experience as an estimator in hard bid and unit-priced work in a DOT or Federal contract setting, as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the HCSS HeavyBid estimating electronic estimating system.
The Senior Construction Estimator will be responsible for confirming take-offs, reviewing work estimated, and ensuring that the risks associated with the work are understood.
They will also oversee project engineers and collaborate with operational staff to validate construction productions and equipment ideas.
The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to safety and exhibit great flexibility in completing additional projects and tasks as they arise.
Responsibilities:
- Confirming take-offs and reviewing work estimated
- Oversight of assigned estimators and junior estimators
- Preparation of project overviews and pre-bid information
- Review of specifications and exception provisions
- Collaboration with operational staff to validate construction productions
- Completion of additional projects and tasks as needed
Requirements:
- 10 years of experience as an estimator in hard bid and unit-priced work
- Bachelor's degree in business, civil engineering, construction management, or related field
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HCSS HeavyBid estimating electronic estimating system
- Able to prioritize estimating tasks and workflow to meet estimate review schedules and bid dates
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand project plans, specifications, and scope of work
- Experience with scheduling and scheduling software (a plus)
Working Conditions:
This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects. Project sites contain various safety hazards associated with heavy construction.
The position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, and under constantly changing circumstances.
The schedule for this position is typically Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with some flexibility required for travel to pre-bid site visits.
