Brayman Construction Corporation is seeking a qualified Project Engineer to join our team for the $769.9 million Montgomery Locks and Dam project, awarded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Monaca, PA. This major initiative involves removal of the existing lock chamber and constructing a new 110-ft by 600-ft primary lock chamber at the Montgomery Locks and Dam on the Ohio River in Monaca, PA. The work will begin with in-the-wet construction for portions of the lock wall monoliths, followed by cofferdam installation and dry construction of the remaining monoliths. Deconstruction of the existing auxiliary lock chamber will start in Spring 2025, with project completion anticipated in 2030. This vital infrastructure project is part of the larger Upper Ohio Navigation Project, designed to upgrade aging lock systems and ensure safe, efficient navigation along the Ohio River. JOB SUMMARY
The Project Engineer will be responsible for assisting the Project Manager and Superintendent in overseeing geotechnical construction projects, which would include contract management, change order preparation, project schedule updating, vendor/supplier management, quantity tracking, production analysis, progress billing quantities/construction units for invoice preparation, resource allocation and coordination, estimating, and material pricing/project buyout.
SUMMARY OF PROJECT ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage project takeoffs and documentation
- Prepare project proposals
- Obtain quotes from suppliers
- Develop strong relationships with: customers, vendors, subcontractors, quality control personnel, operations, and management staff
- Use exceptional organizational skills for effective project management
- Leverage interpersonal and communication skills for successful task completion
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software (particularly Excel)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to be flexible and quickly adapt to new challenges
- Must be willing and able to travel or relocate as necessary for projects
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field, which may include Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Management or the equivalent experience in the construction industry.
- Completion of at least one internship with a heavy civil, foundation, or steel erection contractor or equivalent work experience.
- Experience with various types of heavy civil or foundation work including, but not limited to, mass concrete, post-tensioning, dams, drilling, soil nails, caissons, tie backs, shotcrete, slurry walls is preferred.
