Electro Mechanical Technician OM25-17
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
Requires working outside in varying environmental and weather conditions and temperature extremes. Requires sometimes working at night. Requires lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying weight equal to 100 pounds or less. Requires pushing, pulling, and reaching above the shoulders. Requires kneeling, crawling, bending or twisting while lifting arms above shoulders and stooping for extended periods of time, in order to accomplish duties, while grasping, pulling or pushing objects or manipulating tools. Requires walking and/or standing for extended periods of times. Requires sitting for extended periods of time while riding in a motor vehicle. Requires wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including breathing apparatus. Requires manual and detailed hand work using both hands. Also may require repetitive manual tasks. Requires working overtime and traveling at times with short notice. Must live within a 45-minute response time to Brazos Electric Office located in Krum, TX for emergency response. Must posses a valid driver's license. Must be able to work in confined spaces.

Position Summary:
Perform duties including preventive maintenance, installation, testing, repair, and troubleshooting on system protection and control equipment involved in System Operations, Transmission, and Relay and Control Engineering. Perform other duties as required.

Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:
Routine Testing and Maintenance of Electrical Equipment, Controls, Wiring and Fuses
Perform routine calibration and repair of electromechanical, solid state and microprocessor-based relays. Verify proper operation and reliability of circuit switchers, motor operated air switches, and associated equipment. Assist in setting and maintaining schedules to perform periodic accuracy checks and calibration of system protection devices and energy/power quality instrumentation. Perform electrical test, calibration, and repair on equipment to include, but not limited to:

- 15kv and 27kv reclosers, ranging from oil circuit reclosers to microprocessor controlled/vacuum interrupter reclosers.
- 69kv to 345kv OCB's and GCB's.
- windings and tap changers on transformers and regulators and mobile substations.
- load tap changer and regulator controls ranging from electromechanical to solid state.
Installation of New Relay & Equipment
Install and verify proper operation of all types of relaying schemes for line, transformer and under-frequency. Validate setting changes and report any out of tolerance values or mis-operation conditions discovered. Install and maintain associated equipment; i.e. electronic recorders, pulse multipliers, and transducers.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent certificate.
- Minimum of 3 years electrical or substation mechanical experience.
- Completion of a relevant 2-year electrical certification program or degree may be substituted for experience.
