 Assistant Center Director – Brazos Valley Head Start Programs (BVCAP)

Position Overview:
Are you passionate about early childhood education and fostering meaningful relationships with children and families? Brazos Valley Head Start Programs (BVCAP) is seeking a dedicated and qualified Assistant Center Director to support the management of our Early Head Start or Head Start programs. This role is pivotal in ensuring high-quality educational standards, effective team collaboration, and family engagement within the center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Management: Assist the Center Director with day-to-day operations, compliance with program regulations, and maintaining high educational standards.
  • Curriculum Development: Help develop and implement age-appropriate curriculums in a stimulating and nurturing learning environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Support and guide teaching staff to foster a cohesive and positive work culture.
  • Staff Development: Promote professional growth through ongoing training opportunities.
  • Family Engagement: Build strong relationships with families to support their involvement in their children's education.
  • Administrative Support: Perform administrative tasks, including record-keeping, reporting, and maintaining compliance with standards.
Qualifications:

  1. Minimum CDA; Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or similar preferred.
  2. Willingness to obtain a Center Director Certificate within 30 days of hire.
  3. Minimum 2 years of experience in early childhood education, with Head Start experience preferred (internal candidates).
  4. Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  5. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  6. Team-oriented and adaptable to evolving program needs.
  7. Passion for working with children and families.
  8. Must pass a health questionnaire and comprehensive background check.
  9. Valid driver’s license required.
  10. Obtain CPR & First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.
  11. Completion of a Health Appraisal Questionnaire prior to hiring.
  12. Successful completion of Texas Background Information Disclosure and other required checks before hire and annually thereafter.
Physical Demands:

  • Frequent standing, reaching, talking, hearing, walking, and sitting.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 45 pounds.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
