What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Coalition Partnerships Assistant position at Brazos Valley Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse?
Job Purpose
Provide supportive services and assistance across the Prevention Department, specifically to aid and support coalition staff and in conducting health fairs, educational sessions, presentations and alternative activities and other HHSC required activities. Conduct other clerical duties, as needed including copying, document preparation, receptionist coverage, when available, and data entry.
Job Description
- Assists coalition coordinator staff with planning, and implementing HHSC approved strategies, educational presentations, alternative activities, health fairs, community engagement events and other related activities.
- Aid in preparing for community activities, events, meetings or other supportive services, as needed.
- Assist in providing educational presentations that are age appropriate and follow funding agency guidelines for documentation.
- Assists in set up/take down for all events and activities put on by the coalition.
- Assists coalition staff in carrying out community mobilization activities, including monitoring safety.
- Prepare, distribute and collect participant and meeting effectiveness surveys at meetings and events.
- Assists in maintaining records, reports, and performs other clerical tasks, including data entry, as needed.
- Attends Prevention staffing and other departmental events.
- Communicates progress and observations to coalition coordinator, Prevention staff, Prevention Services Director.
- Assist in maintaining prevention storage and supplies.
- May provide assistance and guidance to other staff, as needed.
- Serves as backup to the BVCASA Receptionists whenever available, as needed.
- Completes all documentation and reports in a timely manner for submission to the Program Director, the Executive Director, and the funding agencies, as required.
- Participates in agency-wide activities as needed to meet the goals and objectives of the organization in furthering its mission.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the Director of Prevention Services or Executive Director.
Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements
Qualifications
- GED or high school diploma from an accredited school.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in general office work, data entry or similar experience.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Skill in using scanner and copying equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Must have good computer skills.
- Working knowledge of the effects of alcohol, tobacco and other drug abuse.
- Experience in managing receptionists’ duties, including incoming calls, scheduling, and receiving money on an as needed basis.
Other Requirements
- May attend educational programming as needed to complete job assignments.
