This position is at Baton Rouge Community College.
This position reports directly to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Workforce, and Student Development. This position determines and carries out the long-range vision for student affairs at the college and leads with a student-centered, collaborative, and innovative leadership strategy that supports a diverse student body. This position oversees all enrollment management, student recruitment, advisement, financial services, support services, enhancement programming, and holds the division to a standard of excellence in customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the Division is fully aligned with the larger mission, vision, values and goals of the institution and the Louisiana Community and Technical College System.
  • Assists the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Workforce and Student Development in the planning, organizing, and directing the operation, staff, and budgeting needs of the college
  • In collaboration with the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Workforce and Student Development this position provides leadership for ensuring that the College provides an equitable and comprehensive array of student services, student development programs focused on student success, and enrollment
management programs, including, but not limited to, admissions, counseling, advising, career
planning and placement, recruiting and retention, registration and records, student discipline,
student activities, intramural programs, student advocacy, services for students with special
needs, cultural activities, grants management, and other student support services and
programs;
  • Plans, designs, develops and delivers student programs and services that implement the goals of the College; provides leadership for evaluating and ensuring quality in all aspects of the College’s student services, student development and enrollment management programs and staff;
  • Provides vision, leadership, and implementation toward an equitable and seamless enrollment process for new, current, traditional, non-traditional and special interest students.
  • Develops, fosters and promotes new opportunities for partnerships with public and private
sector entities
  • Provides leadership and guidance for the recruitment and retention of students; actively
recruits for the College and works to promote retention and student success;
  • Assumes leadership and responsibility for establishing an environment which promotes
respect for students, faculty, and staff and recognizes initiative and excellence;
  • Prepares appropriate reports; analyzes and evaluates enrollment and retention data; projects
student enrollment and retention data to be used in strategic decision making;
  • Maintains continuous evaluation of the economic feasibility of student services to insure that
only those programs with appropriate priority in terms of need and demand are continued.
  • Communicates an accurate image of the College to the public. Is a positive and active
representative of the College and is available to address impromptu situations involving the
College during non-traditional work hours;
  • Manage grants as assigned to student services and as appropriate;

  • Promotes efficiency through technology advancements that utilize a variety of educational delivery methods
  • Oversees efforts in identifying and implementing creative recruitment strategies designed to meet student enrollment goals.
  • Monitors performance and efficiency to improve programs and services as well as increase return on investment
  • Develops, implements, and coordinates programs that establish close, mutually-beneficial ties with business and industry
  • Ensures that the division fully engages the faculty and staff in ongoing, integrated, and institution-wide, research-based planning and evaluation of service programs.
  • Initiates and directs enrollment operations and ensures consistency in the development and implementation of enrollment services and the enrollment experiences at all sites.

  • Provides leadership for directing college-wide activities related to student due-process /
judicial proceedings, including, but not limited to, writing appropriate policies and procedures
and conducting investigations and hearings on student judicial matters;
  • Provides leadership in maintaining a student- and learner-centered philosophy and focus for
student services initiatives with a clear focus on successful student outcomes including:
enrollment, program selection, retention, graduation, placement, and transfer success;
  • Recommends, develops and implements student services policies, procedures and practices
which foster and promote student learning and student success, and which support the
educational programs of the College; recommends organizational structures, personnel and
resources to ensure a student-centered / learner-centered environment at all levels; represents
the College to various external entities and with outside agencies in matters relating to the
College’s student services;
  • Prepares and manages budgets consistent with strategic goals and institutional outcomes and works closely with directors to monitor expenditures and ensure adherence to budget.
  • Provides leadership to the development of key reports and documents that meet the goals and priorities of the college.
  • Maintains compliance requirements for the college and creates reports needed for external agencies.

Required Education:
Master's degree in an academic program.
5 years of progressive leadership can replace the Master's degree.

Required Experience: • 3 years of progressive leadership experience at a college or university

Preferred Education: PhD in an academic program.

Preferred Experience: • Demonstrated experience in a multi-campus/site environment with campuses that are located in both urban and suburban communities, and demonstrated experience as a faculty member with a record of scholarship and promotion in rank.
