In the role of Lead Carpenter / Cabinet Maker, a candidate will be expected to spend the majority of their time on the shop floor utilizing both common, & specialty tools in the production of project scope items. The majority of the projects involve casework to different levels of finish, largely to house various forms of integrated technology. Our client base is incredibly diverse, and at times you will need to work within other categories of woodworking. They will also be expected to help in the maintenance, and optimization of the Wood Shop. It is expected that a Lead Carpenter will have an in-depth knowledge of the typical materials, tools, and equipment used daily in a standard Wood Shop.


As BRDG is a full service design / build firm, all Carpenters will at times be asked to work outside of the wood shop. These duties will include helping with the material handling, maintenance, and assembly of other aspects of any particular build. These duties will correspond to the Fabricator’s specific skill set, and will be in service to the Fabrication Team as a whole.


As a leader on the Fabrication team you will need to work closely with the Production Manager, and other leaders to supervise, & train more junior members of the team, primarily in all aspects of woodworking. You will also be responsible for helping to set schedules for deliverables with relevant team leaders.

As a part of the Fabrication Team, you may be required to travel to work on off site Installations.

On occasion you may also be required to assist in collaborative discussions with other teams within BRDG to lend your insight to design, and implementation.  BRDG is a fast paced, collaborative environment. All team members are expected to work in a professional, & respectful manner at all times.


Fabrication Specific Skills Needed:

  • Exceptional knowledge of basic materials and hardware used in a standard wood shop
  • Exceptional knowledge of basic hand tools used in woodworking, and construction, & manufacturing in general
  • Exceptional knowledge of basic power tools used in woodworking, and construction, & manufacturing in general
  • Exceptional knowledge of standard shop equipment used for material handling, and general shop maintenance
  • Exceptional knowledge of specialized shop equipment used for woodworking
  • Ability to read, and interpret shop drawings, and create parts, & assemblies to exacting specifications & tolerances
  • Ability to utilize standard wood finishing tools to create a variety of finishes on parts & assemblies including proficiency with sanding / filling, applying paint & other coatings 
  • Demonstrate proficiency in assembling parts, & assemblies containing a wide variety of materials
  • Assist with on-site installations and assemblies as needed, working with in-house staff or third-party teams
  • Work efficiently, and consult on, & adhere to timelines established by team leaders

  • Demonstrate the ability to be flexible in the face of any changes that may occur in any project or task
  • Assist when required in consultations, & discussions with other departments 
  • Maintain a level of respectful professionalism throughout the entire company


Role Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 4 - 8 years of woodworking experience in a professional setting 
  • Additional / complimentary experience in other disciplines preferred but not required
  • Ability to read, interpret, & revise technical drawings, & blueprints
  • High level of proficiency in measuring, and layout
  • Exceptional knowledge of the safe use of standard shop tools, & equipment
  • Exceptional working knowledge of the safe use of tools, & equipment used in a variety of aspects of woodworking
  • Ability to to safely operate a forklift 
  • Working knowledge of basic lifting, rigging, and packing for transport
  • Ability to frequently lift 25-50 lbs, and occasionally lift 50-100 lbs
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Consistent focus on problem solving
  • Consistent adherence to all safety protocols, and common sense use of the space and all tools & equipment
  • Overall dedication to professionalism and craftsmanship
