Position Overview
Bread Alone Route Driver's have a unique impact on our business as the critical link between us and our customers. Drivers Specialists are experienced problem solvers, adept at handling new challenges with actionable solutions. This role requires effective communication and the ability to navigate difficulties directly and proactively. This role also requires exceptional levels of reliability and a customer focused approach.
Drivers are responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction and the accuracy of deliveries they carry out. Their daily functions include operation and care of delivery vans and trucks, accurate delivery of product, route management, usage of driver sheets and route materials, operation of handhelds and tablets, completion of daily paperwork, and organized truck offload. Drivers work overnight hours in a physically demanding environment that requires the ability to self-organize and self-motivate. Drivers are expected to have and maintain a professional demeanor and an excellent driving record.
Hours: The schedule for this role would be Tuesday's and Wednesday's; overnight. Overnight shifts are flexed, with start times varying depending on the route assignments. Shift times may be 8:30pm to 9:00am, 10:30pm to 9:00am, 1:30am to 11:30am, and 12:00am to 10:00am. We strive to make schedules as manageable as possible to encourage and allow work-life balance.

Requirements
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Follow correct procedures for safe and secure loading and unloading of trucks
- Delivery of all goods at all stops along assigned route or routes
- Proactive time management skills to ensure customer expectations for timely delivery of good are met
- Manage and adjust invoices when delivering to full service accounts
- Serve as Bread Alone brand ambassador by establishing and maintaining a professional relationship with each customer
- Communicate and proactively manage any delivery errors or product shortages
- Maintain cargo and cab area of assigned delivery vehicle in a neat and orderly fashion according to Bread Alone guidelines
- Consistent and correct usage of nightly driver checklist
- Maintain fuel and DEF levels in vehicles according to company policy
- Provide at least six hours of notice if unable to work a scheduled shift
- Proper use of company gas cards
- Ability to learn and operate our telemetric fleet tracking and maintenance software
- Ability to take on extra shifts when needed, providing vacation coverage for Full-time Route Drivers*
Job Requirements:
- Able to sit and drive for long periods of time while executing tasks quickly and accurately
- Active drivers license and clean driving record
- Able to to work in a physically demanding fast-paced environment
- Able to work outside with frequent exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions
- Able to work with minimum supervision
- Able to communicate with precision both written and verbal
- Comfortable with routinely shifting tasks
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and balance multiple time sensitive tasks simultaneously
- Able to learn and operate computer applications or other automated systems necessary to perform daily tasks
- Respect for and comfort with a diverse and inclusive workplace
- Able to pull, push, move and lift to waist level and carry awkward and shifting weights up to 50 pounds
- Willing to follow all safety guidelines set out by Bread Alone
- Willing to take responsibility for your own and others safety a well as follow safety rules and regulations and report any unsafe conditions to management
- The Bakery is open 365 days a year and team members must be willing to work consistently throughout the year which includes holidays and weekends
Job Type:
Part-time, non-exempt
Compensation Details: Bread Alone is deeply committed to ethically balancing the demands of the business and paying a living wage to all those who contribute to our success. Starting pay for this position is $20 to $24 per hour.
