Job Summary
The Accounting department's role is to have accurate, timely and informative results with a service minded approach. As a department, our role is to assist others and to support our CFO with Bread Financial initiatives. Our financial systems are robust and integrated to have best of breed. As a team, we work hard and value working together towards a common goal. The Senior Analyst, Controllership will be responsible for various accounting activities including reporting and analysis, reconciliation research and oversight, forecasting and modeling, control reviews and audit responses. In addition, the Senior Analyst drives forward various company initiatives, including but not limited to, application of current accounting guidance, data-driven management reporting, process build-outs, systemic upgrades and new capabilities, etc. By working independently as well as part of a team, the Analyst is a key role in identifying and implementing continuous improvement and moving projects forward.
Essential Job Functions
- Relationship Building : Proactively partners with various areas of the business to establish effective relationships, influence and create meaningful analysis for decision-making related to various key initiatives. This includes directly communicating and developing relationships with key internal customers in upper management. Able to run a meeting with upper leaders with assistance from manager.
- Accounting : Complete assigned daily ledger entries and other financial transactions in accordance with accounting principles so that the general ledger is accurate and up to date. Complete or review account reconciliations, researching and resolving outstanding items as necessary. Apply knowledge of Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams to execute daily work. Follow established procedures and guidelines to accurately maintain the organization's financial records and transactions.
- Financial Analysis : Operate in an often-ambiguous environment which calls for investigation / discovery by asking probing questions to discover the root cause of issues. Create, vet, propose, provide oversite, and drive solutions to completion.. Apply strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to propose positive business solutions to complex problems by presenting improvement findings, recommendations and opportunities to management. Responsible for detailed understanding the "why" behind daily tasks and has a general understanding of "why" on somewhat complex accounting topics and business operations. Provides thorough analysis on complex topics to include challenges, cause / effect and final resolution. Utilizes depth of business and technical knowledge and experience to anticipate required changes to current and future processes. Understands complexities between business operations in order to provide financial impact to management. Willingness to think outside of the box in terms of problem solving.
- Project Management : Lead process improvements and initiatives with minimal management involvement. Project manage initiatives from gathering requirements, following up with key resources, documenting project decisions and implementing the initiative. Pushes forward improvements to policies, procedures, and processes that improve consistency, accuracy and timeliness as well as strengthen internal controls. Establishes clear controls & monitoring as a result of the issues management process, including governance, self-assessments, testing, reporting, communication and training. Self-starter with ability to work independently and multitask to meet deadlines. Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy by analyzing data and drawing conclusions based upon the data. Establish and meet critical deadlines while prioritizing multiple activities and complex projects simultaneously.

Salary Range (unless otherwise noted below) :
69,900.00 - $126,600.00
Full Salary Range for position :
California : $80,400.00 - $158,300.00
Colorado : $69,900.00 - $133,000.00
New York : $76,900.00 - $158,300.00
Washington : $73,400.00 - $145,600.00
Maryland : $73,400.00 - $139,300.00
Washington DC : $80,400.00 - $145,600.00
Illinois : $69,900.00 - $139,300.00
The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.
Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses / domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26. New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period). Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates can immediately enroll in Bread Financial's 401(k) plan.
All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Associates have discretion in managing their time away from work through the Flexible Time Off (FTO) program and may need to notify and receive approval from their manager prior to taking the time off. Associates (except those located in Illinois) receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time ("PSST") upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year. Illinois associates receive 40 hours of Illinois PSST upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year and 40 hours of Illinois Paid Leave upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year. Illinois Paid Leave must be used before associates in Illinois will be approved to take FTO.
Hired associates will be able to elect the purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December. You will be eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance.
