Exercise Watch Officer and Watch Chief

Essential Functions

• The Watch Officer or Watch Chief may be assigned to oversee the Combat Operations Center (COC) watch standers during a given shift. They direct the execution of all non-fire direction operations, maintain situational awareness, and ensure status boards and the situation map are updated. In addition, they compile and submit required reports to the Senior Watch Officer (SWO) or Operation Officer (S-3). They are responsible for tracking all messages and missions through completion.
• Responsible for monitoring all operations and activities supporting the unit.
• Monitor all applicable reports (e.g. SITREPS, LOGSTATS, Readiness, Movement).
• Manage/monitor Command & Control (C2) systems such as C2PC, CLC2S, TCPT, BFT/JBC-P, Chat, and other required tactical communication radio nets.
• Ensure that all reports are processed, logged, and tracked in a timely manner.
• Supervise and execute movement control operations IOT deconflict movements to ensure safe passage and priorities of support are maintained.
• Maintain operational cognizance of the battlespace IOT anticipate support requirements.
• Supervise watch clerk(s) in conduct of watch turnover concurrently with COC personnel turnover.
• Understand and report on Commander s Critical Information Requirements/Commander s Significant Notification Events (CCIRs/CSNEs).
  • CCIRs are information regarding the enemy and friendly activities and the environment identified by the commander as critical to maintaining situational awareness, planning future activities, and facilitating timely decision-making (MCRP 5-12C). CCIRs are either Priority Intelligence Requirements (PIRs) or Friendly Force Information Requirements (FFIRs). CCIR items are reported immediately, and through redundant means whenever possible, to the EXCON/HHQ COC.
  • CSNEs are items or events that the Commander wants to know about but does not require a decision at his level (e.g. casualties). CCIRs/CSNEs are proposed by the staff but approved by the commander.
• The COC watch standers will monitor/guard the radio/data nets
• The COC watch standers will display and update visual information in the COC. This includes the digital Command Tactical Picture (CTP) overlay (C2PC) as the primary display in the COC. The physical situational map of the AO (chart) is the backup. Both will be maintained as accurately as possible. Additional visual displays are as follows:
  • Fire Support Coordination Measures maintained by FSCC
  • Airspace Coordination Measures (ACM) embedded within FSCMs; both digital and chart.
  • ISR (when available) / Collections plan overlay.
  • CCIRs/PIRs/NAIs/TAIs posted in COC.
  • Execution Checklist for next 24 hours.
  • Decision Support Matrix for next 24 hours.
  • Significant Events (SIGEVENTS)- Planned friendly force actions or events.
  • Significant Acts (SIGACTS)- Enemy actions or activities.
  • Unit Boundaries
  • Objectives.
  • Tactical Control Measures.
  • Unit Locations.
    • Current Task Organization with callsigns
    • POSREP with DTG chart
  • Radio Guard Chart / Comm status board
  • Weather status
  • MEDEVAC status
• Perform administrative and other tasks as directed by the Civileon Site Lead.

Education/Skills/Experience Requirements:

• The Watch Officer or Watch Chief must have Staff Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO) or Officer experience in any service.
• Must possess a Secret Security Clearance.
• A minimum of 8 years experience in a military training and education environment.
• Must possess thorough knowledge of the Microsoft office suite, online collaborative tools, social networking tools, and content management systems.
• Must possess knowledge of military doctrine, tactics, and command relationships at MAGTF or joint/combined command level as measured by actual operational force
• employment experience is required, and direct participation in real world operations is preferred.
• Direct participation in real world operations in deployment and employment of command and control methods and systems for the GCE is desired.
• A combination of education and experience that displays the requisite skillset is considered.

Salary will commensurate with experience.
