Job Description
BreakPoint Labs is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Operations Engineer to join our team. The candidate will work closely with development teams, ensuring the reliability and security, of applications and infrastructure. This position is hybrid and ~80% remote. Candidates must be located within the National Capital Region (DC, Maryland, Virginia), or, Dayton, OH, or Vicksburg, MS.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following:
Ensuring the reliability and security, of applications and infrastructure.
Maintaining and enhancing a secure software development environment.
Automating deployment processes.
Managing infrastructure (on-prem).
Ensuring seamless integration of security practices into development and operational workflows.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with the Operations and Software Teams.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience with Linux server administration (preferably RHEL or CentOS).
Hands-on Experience With Docker Or Other Containerized Environments.
Scripting in Python or Bash for automating infrastructure and application tasks.
Ability to troubleshoot issues with web applications and network communications.
Experience writing detailed documentation for processes, configurations, and systems.
Ability to maintain IAT Level II DoD certification (Security or other compliant certification).
Preferred Qualifications:
Maintaining a software development platform environment with a focus on CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or Jenkins.
Experience working as a Developer (prefer Python experience)
Ability to perform root cause analysis to identify why failures occurred and implement measures to prevent future issues.
Experience writing and running Ansible playbooks for configuration management.
Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, MariaDB or MySQL.
A strong understanding of software development processes and working with a software development team.
Software Development Experience Using Python Or Other Programming Languages.
Experience configuring Grafana/Prometheus to monitor applications and systems.
Familiarity with web application frameworks such as Django or Ruby on Rails for supporting application deployment and
maintenance.
Experience working in a DoD environment with strong knowledge of STIGs, and SRGs
Required Certifications: Security Continuing Education (CE) [CompTIA].
Required Security Clearance: Secret but please note, the position will require an upgrade to Top Secret after employment begins.
