ABOUT THE COLLEGE & CAREER SUCCESS TEAM :
Breakthrough recognizes the value and need of high quality advising services to students after high school graduation. In this model, we directly serve students through six years of their post-secondary endeavors, with a heavy focus on the first year after graduation from high school. The overall goal of the program is to increase post-secondary attainment rates among students participating in Breakthrough.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR OF COLLEGE AND CAREER SUCCESS ROLE
The Director of College and Career Success oversees the team that supports all of Breakthrough's high school graduates and currently enrolled college students, with the ultimate goal of helping students attain a bachelor's degree, associate degree, or credential / certificate while pursuing their passions and preparing for their career.
To achieve the above, the Director of College and Career Success will :
- Set the vision and direction for Breakthrough's College and Career Success Team to ensure all students benefit from skilled postsecondary advising
- In concert with the team, lead the continuous refinement and improvement of Breakthrough's programs and services to support students towards postsecondary enrollment, persistence, and completion
- Directly supervise the College and Career Success Team's Associate Directors and Specialists
- Lead the team in the creation of performance goals related to our students' college enrollment, persistence, and graduation outcomes, and lead efforts to design the strategy to meet those goal outcomes
- Train, support, supervise, mentor, and evaluate a team of full-time staff and AmeriCorps members to ensure optimal student outcomes
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key partner colleges, and train and support the team in the ongoing cultivation and growth of our campus partnerships
- Lead efforts to communicate our team's work with external stakeholders
- Lead the team in developing our protocols and trainings related to our campus visits
- Coordinate and facilitate timely trainings for topics related to college access, student success, and financial aid
- Lead the team in the collection and analysis of college enrollment, persistence, and completion data to determine trends, barriers, and student needs, and utilize learnings to inform and improve our programs and services. Liaise with the Data Team as needed.
- Research and inform staff of state and national data, and effective practices in college access and persistence
- Design and provide timely reports regarding program outputs and outcomes for both internal and external use
- Curate postsecondary advising training and professional development opportunities for staff
- In collaboration with the Director of Talent and Associate Director of AmeriCorps, co-lead hiring and onboarding efforts for new staff members onto the team; including content creation for trainings and coordinating staff to help facilitate content
- Partner with the Director of College Access to ensure alignment of the college team's model with our advising of high school seniors
- Develop strategies and recommendations for effectively supporting growing numbers of Breakthrough college students
- Manage a small caseload of students to support them to take academic and non-academic steps necessary to achieve postsecondary success
- Support colleagues in managing complex student cases that require a high-degree of confidentiality and coordination across multiple stakeholders
- Foster the healthy culture of the College & Career Success team and of the entire organization
- Ensure that the College and Career Success team's advising and programming practices are aligned with Breakthrough's DEI values and priorities
- Perform other job-related duties as required

The Director of College and Career Success will report to the Chief Program Strategy Officer.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The salary range listed represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for the year in which the position is filled. The actual salary offered for this position will depend on a number of factors including overall years of experience, relevant years of experience, skills and qualifications. At Breakthrough Central Texas, we offer a compelling total compensation packet with additional benefits.
