Adolescent Support Staff:
BreakThrough Inc. is a licensed Staffed Residential Program for youth facing various struggles. BreakThrough Inc. has individual home/program locations in Spokane and Tri-Cities, allowing us to assist a wider variety of youth in our state. We serve the needs of emotionally/behaviorally challenged, Developmentally Delayed youth, with independent behavior and treatment plans designed to help these youth achieve their full potential as a part of the world around them.
We serve youth/children from all walks of life, male and female, who are facing behavioral or emotional challenges brought on by trauma, mental health diagnosis, learning disabilities, and processing disorders. Our goal is to assist our youth in achieving maximum independence in their futures, while still focusing on developmentally appropriate activities of daily living and impactful community integration.
Job Types: Full-time; Grave Shift (schedule range 10:00pm-7:30am) to include weekends.
SUMMARY:
The Support Staff is responsible for maintaining and encouraging an independent normalized environment. They will provide support to youth in laundry care, personal hygiene, cooking, cleaning, socialization, recreation, self-medication, menu planning, budgeting, shopping, and yard care. The Support Staff will implement and follow treatment and behavioral plans with the guidance of the Program Manager. They will be available for discussions that deal with everyday problems or concerns of individuals living at BreakThrough Inc. The Support Staff will be responsible for assisting residents with any medical needs, including assistance in arranging appointments with health care professions, and assisting and ensuring transportation for the individual to health care services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Communicate with other Support Staff concerning clients, progress notes, problems, or other information which occurred during their shift.
- Document client’s daily routines, activities, medications administered, struggles and successes.
- Attend mandatory staff/program meetings at least 1 time a month.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information, both client and agency. All staff must sign a confidentiality statement.
- The person must display mature behavior, demonstrate the capability to be an appropriate role model to the individuals and have the ability to make required independent judgement.
- Behavior management with youth of all development levels; verbal to non-verbal, independent to co-dependent.
- Staff will utilize their own vehicle to transport clients to community outings and appointments. Mileage is reimbursed.
- Overnight/Grave staff must be awake and conduct bed checks 4x/hour.
REQUIREMENTS:
A Support Staff must:
- Be over the age of 21
- Have a high school diploma, or high school or equivalency course of study (GED/HSEC)
- Be able to pass a State and Federal Background check
- Have 6 months of experience working directly with youth/children/vulnerable populations
- Have the skill and ability to work successfully with the special needs of youth in care.
- Have a Valid State Issued Driver's License (copy on file).
- Current Vehicle Insurance (copy on file).
- DMV Employment Driving Record (copy on file).
- The ability to lift 50 lbs.
- The ability to maneuver up and down stairs in a timely manner.
- Have reliable transportation.
An employee will be provided the following training:
- 16 hours of preservice training and orientation, and a total of 30 hours in-service training annually.
- Training shall include a combination of orientation, instruction and on the job training.
- CPR and First Aid, HIV/Blood Borne Pathogens training.
- Hepatitis B series or Declination.
- Food Handler's Card (copy on file).
- Read and understand Agency Policies and Programmatic Policies & Procedures.
- Watched the Mandated Reporter Video.
- Take required De-escalation training (RIGHT RESPONSE) and any other required training that Administration/DCYF requires.

- Support Staff $17.25-18.50 per hour DOE
