Job Description
Breakthrough Public Schools (BPS) is seeking a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC or LPCC) or Licensed Social Worker (LSW or LISW) for the 2024-25 school year .

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Support the school's mission, philosophies, values, goals, and policies toward students, parents / guardians, and coworkers.
- Design and effectively deliver developmentally appropriate mental health interventions that reflect observations and goals of individual children.
- Utilize specific mental health approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy, among other methods, to assist students in regulating emotions and developing the skills necessary to participate appropriately in classroom activities.
- Counsel individual students to facilitate transition from home to school, to build positive attitudes, self-understanding, and self-reliance.
- Provide individual counseling and group guidance to help students cope effectively with personal, social, academic, career, and family concerns.
- Serve as member / consultant to the school guidance team; participate in Student Support Team / MTSS, 504, Individual Education Plan meetings, etc. as requested by school leadership.
- Act as lead facilitator in cooperation with classroom teacher for social-emotional skills lessons presented in the classroom.
- Provide crisis intervention services for students who become overwhelmed in the classroom setting, and collaborate effectively with parents if students are not able to remain in school.
- Connect and collaborate with agencies providing mental health services in the school setting, or in the surrounding community, for students whose mental health needs require ongoing, one-on-one counseling support.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to various family and cultural patterns in counseling sessions and classroom interventions.
- Work with the faculty and school leadership to frequently examine student data for ongoing refinement of interventions.
- Facilitate regular parent / guardian communications and conferences to discuss student progress.
- Assist in keeping the classroom environment organized, attractive and safe.
- Interact frequently and respectfully with students, parents, faculty and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education :
Master's degree or will have one conferred by the first day of work
Experience :
2 years of counseling experience preferred
Experience in urban setting strongly preferred
Licensure and Certification (s) :
Must possess Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW).
Salary : $55,000 - $65,000
