What are the responsibilities and job description for the Asst Aquatics Manager (Seasonal) position at BREC Recreation And Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge?
Assists in the supervision of the daily operations of Liberty Lagoon Water Park with a primary responsibility being the safety of crewmembers, guests, and the facility. This is achieved by performing assigned duties personally or by overseeing subordinates' execution of delegated tasks. This position is responsible for the daily operations of supervising the ticketing, concessions, programming, rentals, aquatic crew, maintaining a safe facility, and responding to any emergency situations. By accomplishing this, the water park will run with optimal safety and efficiency. The Asst. Aquatics Manager must demonstrate at all times that he/she can give excellent guest service through leadership. Overseeing guest flow, developing relationships, overseeing activities and services will ensure that the Aquatics Division is caring for its guests. Being on the deck and observing daily operations is the most important task of the Asst. Aquatics Manager and may not be delegated. While roaming, you must be consciously looking for any and all potential problems with the crew, the facility, or any guest problem that may become apparent. The Asst. Aquatics Manager must be able to effectively communicate with guests and crew and is required to follow up with any and all concerns that are communicated to them. This is imperative to ensure that crewmembers and guests feel they are being listened to and their concerns are being addressed. The Asst. Aquatics Manager must encourage and maintain a positive environment throughout the water park.
Reports to: Aquatics ManagerEducation Required: High School Graduate with three years aquatics management experience or related
Certifications: Current American Red Cross or YMCA; First Aid Card and Lifesaving Certificate
Other: Thorough knowledge of use and application of water rescue methods, lifesaving and first aid practices and techniques; Ability to swim 300 yards without stopping ; Ability to tread water for 1 minute without using hands; Ability to work well with staff and customers of all ages.
This is a highly responsible position reporting to the Aquatics Manager, overseeing the aquatic facility.

- Assist with daily supervision of facility operations and lifeguards
- Rule enforcement with lifeguards and patrons
- Risk management to include safety inspections
- Emergency management
- Handling/counting money to close out daily receipts
- Daily pool maintenance and upkeep
- Logging lifeguard scanning/evaluation reports
- Attend and assist with in-service training on a weekly basis
- Resolve customer complaints and questions
- Maintaining a professional image
- Work in ticketing/concessions as needed
- Assist in hourly checking of pool chemicals and chemical adjustments
