The Carpenter works in the maintenance shop and on-site at BREC centers and facilities, operating power and hand tools in construction, renovation, repair and maintenance of a variety of buildings and facilities. The work is largely independent subject to periodic supervision.
Four (4) years experience as journeyman carpenter in wide variety of residential & commercial construction. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent and completion of a 2-year Apprenticeship program.
Preferred: Associate's degree in related field.
Area of Study (major) Required: Carpentry Apprenticeship.
Preferred: General construction.
License(s) Required: Valid LA driver's license.
Years Relevant Work Experience: 4 years experience as journeyman carpenter in wide variety of residential & commercial construction.
Preferred: 10 or more years related experience.

- Small building construction and repair: installing countertops, cabinets, partitions, doors, locks, framework, floors, glass in doors, windows, repairing roofs, installing floor and ceiling tiles, pouring concrete.
- Duplication and repair of historical structures.
- Masonry repairs
- Playground equipment, bleacher repairs.
- Construction and installation of signs.
- Sawing boards, panels; erecting scaffolding; sheet metal work.
- Construction of forms and recreation equipment.
- Measuring, cutting, fastening siding, paneling.
Secondary Job Duties
- Performing building, facility, and bridge condition assessments
- General installing, odd jobs and finish work on buildings.
- Providing direction and instruction to part time workers and laborers.
- Assisting other trades personnel with tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
