The Construction Tech 2 works on site at BREC parks and facilities to performing a wide variety of construction related duties. The Construction Tech 2 is required to carry out construction jobs, as part of a crew, often without direct supervision and provide some direction to other staff members. The position is required to ensure safe building techniques and building applications, understand construction techniques, and anticipate job flow.Education Required: High School Diploma (or equivalent)
Area of Study (major) Required: Construction/Trades
Certification(s) Required: CPR/First Aid certification within specified time frame provided by BREC
License(s) Required: Valid LA driver’s license.
Years Relevant Work Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years of construction experience Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

- Thorough knowledge of construction work including carpentry, concrete work, painting, grading and general knowledge of mechanics and plumbing.
- Knowledge of recreation facilities, equipment and playing fields.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to resolve conflict and foster positive/productive team environment.
- Skill in the use of light-duty to heavy equipment
- Skill in the operation of hand and power tools
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to plan, organize, supervise subordinates and set priorities for crew work completion.
- Ability to schedule and order materials in timely manner.
Essential Functions and Job Duties:
- Provide direction to laborers and construction tech 1’s; inspect work, coach and counsel
- Oversee safe building techniques and building applications
- Inspect equipment and vehicles for safe transport and maintenance; make requests for material orders; lay out and build construction projects for BREC; gather tools and materials for construction jobs
- Maintain and clean equipment, prepare building materials for use, straighten and organize surplus building materials
- Take inventory for trucks
- Gather tools, equipment and materials for jobs required to transport, maintain, and operate small skid -steers & tractors.
- Assist Construction Foreman with layout and construction of jobs and anticipate work/job flow
- Inspect BREC projects for safe conditions, work progress/completion, and quality work
- Ensure compliance with BREC policies and procedures.
- Responsible for communicating design problems and other issues to supervisors in a timely manner.
Secondary Job Duties
- Prepare, prime and paint various interior and exterior items
- Plant, feed, and water grass seed, sod, and plants.
- Pouring and finishing concrete
