General Summary: The Foreman 1 works at BREC parks and facilities leading assigned crews performing maintenance and special projects in general grounds maintenance. Supervises weekend crews on assigned weekend days.Education Requirement: H.S. diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred: Two (2) years vocational training preferred.
Area of Study Preferred: Study of Horticulture, construction management, turf maintenance, arboriculture or a closely related field.
Certification Preferred: N/A
License Required: Valid LA Class E driver's license.
Preferred: Valid D or above Commercial driver's license.
Year Relevant Work Experience: 2 years of grounds maintenance or related experience.
Preferred: 5 or more years related experience.

- Leading assigned crews to complete designated tasks and projects.
- Inspecting and performing repairs and maintenance to playground equipment and fall surfaces.
- Operating park maintenance equipment, mowers, loaders, graders, backhoes to complete assigned tasks.
- Laying out and maintaining athletic fields and training other staff on these tasks.
- Inspecting, recognizing, recording, and responding to needed maintenance and repairs of playgrounds, picnic facilities, athletic fields, and any other park features.
- Maintaining and repairing fences, backstops, tennis courts, basketball courts, water fountains, benches and any other park features as assigned.
- Performing general equipment preventative maintenance as needed.
- General record keeping.
- Other duties as assigned.
Secondary Job Duties
- Assisting in training of staff.
- Assisting in inventory control
- Assisting in supply logistics for remote shop locations within district.
- Filling in, in absence of District Manager/Foreman as needed
- Opening and closing shop and directing staff on weekends and holidays.
- Purchasing needed supplies and materials as directed.
