Preferred: Vo-tech school diploma or Associate's degree.
Area of Study (major) Preferred: Automobile or Golf and Turf Equipment repair or related.
Certification(s) Required: Must be able to obtain ASE Mechanic Certification in at least one category or Certification through a major Turf Equipment Manufacturer within 6 months of hire.
Preferred: Master Mechanic or Mechanic Certification in at least three (3) categories.
License(s) Required: Valid LA driver's license.
Years Relevant Work Experience: 5 years related experience.
Preferred: 10 or more years related experience

- Basic knowledge of mechanics for repairing golf course and turf equipment
- General knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems

- Must have a positive attitude with the willingness and desire to learn new skills
- Skill in the care and use of tools for mechanical maintenance and repair work
- Skill in the operation of light to heavy equipment

- Ability to operate and maintain all types of small hand and electrical tools used in repairing golf course equipment
- Ability to properly repair and rebuild engines & machinery

Essential Functions and Duties:
- Performs and directs troubleshooting, maintenance, service and repair to all golf course and turf equipment including but not limited to the following:greens mowers, slope mowers, trap rakes, ball pickers, tractors, backhoes, fairway mowers, rotary mowers, reel mowers, golf carts, utility trucks, etc.
- Performs, directs, and assigns repairs on mechanical equipment such as engines, drive-trains, and other equipment as necessary.
- Performs, directs, and assigns equipment modifications and upgrades.
- Tests equipment after effective repairs to determine adequacy of work.
- Estimates cost of repair work.
- Purchases parts and supplies under BREC guidelines and policies.
- Maintains records of maintenance and repair work.
- Is responsible for the maintenance and cleanliness of the shop, storage areas, rest rooms, offices, and equipment yard.
Secondary Job Duties: - Occasionally performs, directs, and supervises other parts of the overall golf course maintenance operation such as operating heavy equipment, mowing, topdressing, etc.
