Under direction and supervision of the Sr. Risk Manager, reporting to the Park Ranger Supervisor, is responsible for patrolling agency operated properties to thwart and prevent vandalism, fire, theft, immoral activities; and the development of unsafe environment and conditions. Will remind patrons and visitors of applicable laws and regulations of conduct when necessary. Will provide general assistance and information as the need arises. Work may involve an element of personal risk and the employee must be able to exercise sound judgment in emergency situations.Education Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent

- Responsible for the suppression of activities to provide for protection of life and property, however, under no circumstances will ranger carry or engage in the use of lethal weapons.
- Must possess some knowledge of the principles and practices of dealing positively and effectively with the general public, sometimes in uncomfortable situations.
- Ability to inform the public positively and effectively of laws, ordinances, regulations and safety rules with firmness, tact and impartiality.
- Ability to communicate departmental policies, procedures, rules, regulations and ordinances which affect patrons and/or their conduct.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
- See attached forms associated with this position: Abandon Vehicle, Parking Violation, Vehicle Accident; Incident Report/Stolen Property, and Damage to Property.
- Uses electric golf cart to patrol assigned Howell Park BREC facility, which is a 100-acre facility with cement trails and grassy areas consistent with the smooth grounds of a golf course, as this facility was designed on what was previously a golf course.
- Inspects areas to ensure property is not damaged and is secured.
- Investigates complaints of any suspicious activities not consistent with park rules and advises law enforcement authorities and/or BREC authorities when appropriate. Incumbent will be provided with a BREC issued cell phone, radio and binoculars (upon request) to report activities and maintain discretionary safe proximity deemed necessary to eliminate personal risk.
- Investigates vehicular accidents as well as abandoned vehicles left on BREC property.
- Directs traffic when necessary on BREC property from a tall stool with backrest and foot support using hand signals.
- Advises the public of park rules/regulations, as well as associated governmental laws/ordinances.
- Completes reports, such as those attached, in connection with performing the above-mentioned job duties.
- Incumbent will be allowed to work at his own pace and will be allowed to use all of the many benches/tables to take as many breaks as needed from his golf cart patrol throughout the course of his work day.
