POSITION OVERVIEW

The MS Football Coach is responsible for providing visionary leadership for the MS Football Program. The MS Football Coach is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the program, including recruiting within the school, oversight and management of the staff, and development of individual team members. The MS Football Coach is required to abide by rules and regulations of; the NFHS, the MSHSL, and Breck School.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions, to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.

• Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in Football.

• Coordinate the development and promotion of the Football Program across the school community.

• Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate student’ athletic abilities initially and on an ongoing basis.

• Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and team development.

• Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation at all times.

• Work with the Strength and Conditioning Coach to provide a year round strength and conditioning program.

• Encourage and support multisport athletes within Breck School.

• Act as a team representative and promote the sport.

• Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.

• Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or other appropriate administrator.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Three years of experience coaching MS Football at the Middle School or High School level (head coaching experience preferred).

• Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.

• Must possess knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.

• Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, governing organizations (MSHSL, etc.), opponents, staff, parents, and athletes.
