The Vice President of Safety, Security, and Environmental (14 CFR PART 119 Director of Safety) is responsible for the leadership of operational effectiveness and sustainability of safety programs, security measures, and environmental impact. This includes mentoring, development, oversight, and regulatory compliance of Breeze's Internal Evaluation Program, Emergency Response Program, SMS Program, etc. and FAA aviation safety standards and safe operating practices. The Vice President of Safety, Security, and Environment will also be the Agent for Service with FAA and other federal agencies and ensure the highest level of safety process promotion throughout Breeze teams through compliance of federal regulations including FAA, OSHA, and Transportation Security Administration (TSA), risk management, and safety assurance. This position will report to the Chief Operating Officer and be responsible and accountable for the duties and responsibilities as required by 14 CFR 119.65.
Here's what you'll do
- Maintain oversight and serve as the primary management official over the Company Safety Department, SMS and safety programs, Safety Committee, and associated documentation
- Manages the approved security programs and processes related to the operation of Company aircraft
- Directs the Company's Internal Evaluation Program (IEP), Company's Emergency Response Program (ERP), and Flight Operations Quality Assurance program (FOQA
- Oversees development, implementation, and maintenance of SMS processes within the organization, including, but not limited to establishing and maintaining a safety information database, facilitating hazard identification and safety risk analysis
- Monitor and evaluates the effectiveness and relevancy of safety risk controls
- Effectively reports on safety management performance, safety concerns and improves policies and procedures
- Evaluating safety reports and audits to identify trends through Safety Risk Management (SRM)
- Communicating and coordinating with executive leadership throughout the organization to develop and implement safety policies and procedures
- Supporting the Safety Risk Management (SRM) process throughout the Company by providing subject-matter-expertise for safety assurance
- Manage approved security programs and processes related to the operation of Company aircraft
- Direct the safety reporting programs : Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP), Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) and provide insight using Safety Data Collection Tool (SDCT)
- Establish, monitor and guide the Company's Safety Committee
- Maintain a full understanding of the following materials as they pertain to Company operations : provisions and requirements of 14 CFR 119, OpSpecs, CMS and contents, internal audits, and findings follow-up
- Will notify the appropriate / responsible manager of any findings of non-compliance with published procedures, inconsistencies in procedures, and / or manuals, non-compliance with applicable CFRs, and / or guest complaints
- Improve content, implement, and maintain the IEP in accordance with the IEP manual and the Emergency Response Manual (ERM) in accordance with the manual control procedures for the effective handling of incidents, accidents, injuries, loss of life or property including the review and evaluation of the adequacy of the emergency response plan
- Maintain a close liaison with the FAA, NTSB, DOD, and industry safety organizations and associations
- Responsible for implementing IOSA standards throughout the company
- Oversee staff responsible for aircraft safety, occupational safety, security, drug and alcohol prevention program, and internal evaluation of safety related programs
- Serve as a member of the Continuous Analysis Surveillance System (CASS) Board
- Lead safety related budgetary decisions
- Act as the primary point of contact for all accident / incident investigations
- Communicate and coordinate with all levels of management with regard to the SMS and other safety programs
- Make Safety staffing and budgeting recommendations
- Make regulatory compliance recommendations
- Make decisions related to the Company Occupational Health and Safety Program
- Make decisions related to the SMS and other safety programs
