What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Reporter position at Brehm Communications?
The Mountain News, a weekly newspaper in the San Bernardino mountains of Southern California, is looking for the right person to take a leadership role in our newsroom.
The Senior Reporter needs to have a minimum of 3-5 years experience writing for a weekly or daily newspaper. They must be willing and able to work independently as well as with the rest of the Mountain News team.
The candidate should be an enterprise reporter with an aptitude for seeking out or mining the community for relevant news stories, taking news photographs, the ability to work multiple beats, and leadership skills to assign others to do the same. Strong grammar skills, AP-style writing knowledge, multi-media and social media proficient, and an understanding of the community are essential.
Experience in coordinating stories submitted by other reporters or sources is helpful along with excellent communication skills.
The Mountain News is an award-winning publication located a mile high in the heart of the San Bernardino Mountains in Lake Arrowhead, California. The Southern California community features many outdoor activities and is close in proximate to just about anywhere you might want to go in So Cal.
The company offers benefits, paid vacations and more to full-time employees, however this position could be full time or part time depending on the applicant and business climate at the time. Southern California candidates preferred. We do not offer relocation reimbursement.
