Job Overview:
As a Tile Installer at Brekhus Tile & Stone, Inc., you will be responsible for the precise installation of tile surfaces on both residential and commercial projects. This includes working with a variety of materials such as ceramic, marble, and granite. Your role will involve preparing sub-surfaces, ensuring the proper application of adhesives, grout, and sealants, and cutting and installing tiles according to specifications. You will be expected to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment to ensure that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Surface Preparation: Measure, mark, clean, and level surfaces in preparation for tile installation, following blueprints and project specifications.
- Tile Installation: Cut and install ceramic, marble, and granite tiles, ensuring accurate placement and applying adhesives and grout for a secure, smooth finish.
- Material Handling: Prepare, mix, and apply thin-set mortar, grout, and sealants; transport materials to job sites as needed.
- Tile Cutting: Use tile cutters, saws, or other tools to cut and shape tiles to required sizes.
- Communication: Collaborate with the Field Superintendent and team members to track project progress, address any issues, and clarify work orders.
- Tool Maintenance: Ensure tools and equipment are maintained according to company guidelines and safety standards.
- Jobsite Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Client Interaction: Maintain professional and effective communication with clients, contractors, and colleagues to foster strong working relationships.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in tile installation, including expertise with ceramic, marble, and granite materials.
- Skills: Proficient in reading technical blueprints and performing accurate mathematical calculations (geometry, ratios, dimensions).
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 65 lbs., stand for long periods, kneel, bend, and perform other physically demanding tasks.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members.
- Tool Proficiency: Extensive experience with various tile installation tools (e.g., trowels, tile cutters, grout floats).
- Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
