As a CNC Machinist / Operator at Brekhus Tile & Stone, you will be responsible for developing and implementing precise CNC programs for advanced machinery to shape and finish stone countertops according to specific design specifications. This role involves programming and operating CNC machines, selecting appropriate tools, and monitoring production to ensure quality and accuracy. You will collaborate closely with design and production teams to optimize workflow and ensure efficient use of materials and may also visit job sites to create precise templates for custom installations.
Responsibilities
- Program and operate CNC machines to cut, shape, and fabricate stone countertops, ensuring precision and accuracy in all processes.
- Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
- Selects, aligns, and secures fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials.
- Calculates and sets control to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
- Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
- Works with GM to analyze problems for best solutions.
- Mentors and teaches employees with lesser capabilities at any point in production.
- Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for creating a professional, safe, and clean environment evidenced by : being at work on time to perform assigned duties, following the policies of Brekhus Tile and Stone, always wearing safety glasses in designated areas, maintaining a neat and orderly work area, and following safety practices to prevent errors.
- Demonstrates commitment to teamwork by establishing effective relationships and networks with both managers / directors and workers, and collaborating with them to accomplish shared purposes and goals.

YOUR WORKING ENVIRONMENT
This position requires working with stone and equipment that require personal protective equipment to be worn, including hearing protection. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must be able to lift and / or move up to 45 pounds repetitively and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The duties of this job are performed in either machine shop and / or at jobsites, thereby experiencing moderate level of noise due to machine equipment. Some position requires traveling between jobsites and Brekhus when needed. Brekhus requires all employees who drive their personnel or a company vehicle in the routine performance of their jobs to have a valid Driver’s License. They must also provide proof of valid insurance. May require extended hours to meet customer's needs.
