JOB DESCRIPTION – COMPUTER TECH I
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Computer Tech I will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting a variety of technology equipment used by staff and students across the school district. This position will play a key role in ensuring a seamless learning environment by resolving technical issues efficiently and providing technical support to the school community.
Reports to and evaluated by: Technology Supervisor
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network connectivity issues on computers, tablets, printers, and other peripherals
- Perform preventative maintenance to optimize system performance and prevent future problems
- Install, configure, and maintain a variety of software applications
- Assist with deploying and managing new technology initiatives within the school
- Maintain an inventory of all computer equipment and peripherals
- Provide technical support to staff and students on proper use of technology
- Collaborate with other team members for software and hardware installations, troubleshooting, administration, and maintenance
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure proper handling of equipment
- Adhere to all school safety and security protocol
- Other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working with computers
- Knowledge of computer software to be used, including word processing skills
- Ability to work within assigned guidelines with minimal supervision
- Ability to be flexible to meet needs of overall school operations
- Ability to identify hardware and software problems, prioritize, and troubleshoot
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability work effectively under pressure and stress
- Ability to move or carry objects weighing over 50 pounds
- Ability to crouch, crawl, bend, or kneel to service computers and network equipment
Licenses, Certificates & Special Requirements:
- A Certification preferred
- Valid Washington State Driver's License and good driving record
