What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Careers Summer School Teacher (250403003) position at Bremerton School District?
This position will work 6.5hr/day from June 23, 2025 - July 11, 2025 (Not including July 4, 2025). There will be one additional paid prep day prior to the start of Summer School.
The hourly rate for this position will be calculated based on experience and education.
The Health Careers Summer School Teacher will be under the general direction of the Director of the West Sound Technical Skills Center. Responsibilities include teaching within classroom and lab setting and may entail fundamentals of nursing and care giving, critical thinking in nursing practice, legal, psychiatric, mother/baby, pediatrics, leadership, health promotion and education, and medical nursing for children and adults.
Summer school is a 90-hour introductory professional medical careers course.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Teach assigned course at the times and place scheduled.
- Supervise and advise students in the classroom and lab
- Revise and update course content, student assignments and activities, when necessary, consistent with the master course outline.
- Stay current in areas of assignment and in teaching techniques.
- Respond to work-related communications when requested.
- Monitor equipment and supply inventories, as necessary.
- Implement and participate on community advisory committees, curriculum and program reviews.
- Hours in accordance with the contracted agreement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Must qualify for a Career and Technical Education Health Occupations vocational teaching certificate in the State of Washington, which includes three (3) years of recent gainful employment in the medical fields beyond the learning period; one year must be within the past 6 years.
- Provide a summer school program for students.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Teaching experience.
- Nurse leadership experience at a health care facility.
- Teaching in a hospital, community, and/or educational setting.
- Experience in working with non-traditional learners and various ethnic and socio-economic groups.
- Computer literacy including familiarity with electronic communications, i.e., E-Mail, Internet, and knowledge of interactive learning software, i.e., nursing and allied-health occupations.
