PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGS: Brenau University will conduct criminal background checks on all persons being considered for initial employment. In some circumstances, an FBI fingerprint report may be necessary to satisfy the requirement. Once employed, employees must hold and continue to maintain a favorable criminal history background. Random background checks are performed. Credit checks may be performed on candidates/employees who are selected for a position that regularly engages in handling credit cards or other company monies. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) may be performed during the hiring process, or as part of a random check. MVR checks are required to meet insurance requirements for those employees operating a university vehicle or participating in any driving activity on behalf of Brenau University, (including operating a golf cart, rented vehicle or one’s personal vehicle). Employees who travel must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid Georgia driver’s license, and good driving record. All employees who operate university vehicles, who are employed in a sensitive position, or who travel regularly as part of their job responsibilities may be subject to post-hire drug screening and random drug-screening. All employees are subject to reasonable suspicion drug screening.

Minimum qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years in Law Enforcement or Security experience preferred.
- Post-Certified highly preferred.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Patrolling
Security officers patrol the university campus by foot, golf cart, or in a patrol unit. They may patrol walkways, parking lots, and buildings.
Security
Security Officers are responsible for the safety of the university community, including students, faculty, staff, and visitors. They may operate security equipment, such as alarms and control panels, to monitor the area.
Responding to incidents
Security officers respond to reports of incidents, such as suspicious activity or security violations. They may call the police or other authorities to investigate.
Enforcing rules
Security officers enforce campus rules and regulations, such as parking, smoking, and alcohol and drug use. They may issue parking violation warnings, citations and tags, and request towing.
Traffic control
Security officers may direct traffic and parking.
Special events
Security officers may provide crowd control or other security services for special events.
Liaison
Security officers may act as a liaison between the university and local law enforcement.
Other duties
Security officers may also perform custodial and maintenance duties, provide information and directions, and maintain records.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No supervisory responsibilities required.
Work Hours and Schedule:
Part-time Staff, as needed working typically 19 hours per week or less. Hours may be extended to meet the needs of the department. On-ground position, flexible schedule works nights and/or weekends.
Environmental and Working Conditions/ Physical Demands and Aptitudes:
Physical demands associated with this position include extensive walking. Occasional lifting & carrying heavy weighted materials (up to 50 lbs), bending over, lifting and transporting by hand. Ability to work in extreme weather conditions. Must be able to operate and drive a motor vehicle.

Licensure Requirements:
