Duke University Line Cook

We are here to help you succeed, but before you join our team there are a few basic requirements for the Line Cook position.

Responsibilities: Customer satisfaction is very important at Il Forno/Sazón. Our Line Cooks’ main responsibility is to produce our recipes quickly and consistently for our customers. Working as a team is also important. We expect all of our kitchen staff to understand safety procedures, and as a Line Cook, you are also responsible to know and follow all industry health regulations. Line Cooks are under the kitchen manager, so they need to be willing and quick to follow their manager’s directions. And, as part of the Il Forno/Sazón’s team, we expect all of our employees to be willing to jump in and help wherever is needed to produce our award-winning food.

Physical Requirements: Being a cook is intense work. As a Line Cook for Il Forno/Sazón, you will need to be able to quickly and accurately prepare large amounts of food that meet our exacting standards. Line Cooks also need to be able to stand for their entire shift and work in hot or cold conditions while preparing the food. Line Cooks must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.

Experience/Education: Previous kitchen experience is definitely preferred for this position. We need our Line Cooks to work fast and follow directions and recipes accurately. Also knowing how to use and operate our kitchen’s tools and equipment safely is required.

Other: All Line Cooks must be at least 18 years old. (Also for all Sazón positions you will need to pass the Duke University background check).
